Man Charged After Pursuit, ADVO Breaches in Tuggerah Lakes

A man has been charged following a pursuit in the state's north yesterday.

About 3.45pm yesterday (Friday 2 October 2026) officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were called to home on Donald Avenue, Kanwal, following reports a man was allegedly breaching an ADVO.

The 33-year-old man left the address in a Mitsubishi utility and responding officers attempted to stop the vehicle on nearby Edna Avenue.

When the utility allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated, however was terminated a short time later when the utility stopped on Yennora Avenue, Kanwal, where the driver left the area on foot.

Following inquiries, the man was seen allegedly running from a home on Murrawal Road, Kanwal.

After a short foot pursuit, the man was arrested nearby and taken to Wyong Police Station.

He was charged with six offences:

  • Two counts of contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic)
  • Knowingly contravene 3rd time in 28 days AVO (Domestic)
  • Police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly
  • Drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, and
  • Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear at Local Bail Division - Court 6 today (Saturday 3 October 2026).
