A man will face court charged following a serious crash near Taree late last year.
About 8.20pm on Thursday 15 November 2024, emergency services were called to Manning Point Road, Mitchells Island, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
At the scene, police found a sedan and SUV had collided, injuring all three occupants.
The driver of the sedan, a 52-year-old man, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the SUV – a man aged 68 – was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Port Macquarie Hospital.
The passenger – a woman aged 51 – was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
All occupants have since been released from hospital, with various treatments ongoing.
Officers attached to the Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into the incident and a blood sample obtained from the 52-year-old man at the hospital has since returned an alleged reading of 0.096.
Yesterday (Monday 19 May 2025) – with the assistance of Victoria Police – the driver of the sedan was issued a court attendance notice by NSW Police Officers at Forest Hill Police Station in Victoria.
He was charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), drive with middle range PCA, and not keep left of dividing line.
He is due to appear before Taree Local Court on Tuesday 29 July 2025.
