Man charged after stealing over $13,500 worth of protein milk powder near Kempsey, NSW

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing over $13,500 worth of protein milk powder from a factory near Kempsey, NSW Police say.

About 2.30am on Sunday (9 October 2016), a 35-year-old man allegedly entered a factory site on Rawson Street, Smithtown.

Police will allege the man took four bags containing protein milk powder, with a combined estimated value of $13,670.

Officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command were notified of the bags of protein missing and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 1.30pm today, a 35-year-old man was arrested at a home on South West Rocks Road, Kempsey.

He was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with break, enter and steal, and enter prescribed premises of any person without lawful excuse.

The man was granted conditional bail and will appear at Kempsey Local Court on 14 November 2016.
