Man charged after stolen jewellery found in Windale

A man will face court tomorrow after police recovered 55 pieces of allegedly stolen jewellery during a break in at a Charlestown store, NSW Police say.

Police from the Lake Macquarie Property Crime Reduction Team were investigating a break-in at a Charlestown jewellery store overnight (27-28 December 2016).

Further inquiries lead police to execute a search warrant at a Windale address this morning.

There, police arrested a 44-year-old man who was later charged with break enter and steal, shoplifting, goods in custody, possess prohibited drug and hinder police in the execution of their duty.

He was refused bail and will appear in Newcastle Local Court tomorrow.

A woman was also arrested at the Windale address in relation to a revocation of parole warrant.
