A man has been charged with property offences following alleged break and enters at businesses around Sydney over the past three months.
Since April 2025, Surry Hills and Sydney City Police Area Commands experienced break, enter and steal offences in commercial premises, predominantly cafes, small bars and restaurants.
Following an extensive investigation under Strike Force Longtown, comprising officers from Central Metropolitan Region, Region Enforcement Squad and the Sydney City, South Sydney and Surry Hills Police Area Commands, about 10.40am yesterday (Wednesday 16 July 2025), a 40-year-old was man arrested at Waterloo.
The man was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with 26 offences – break, enter and steal (20 offences), damage property (four offences), stealing and obtain benefit by deception.
The alleged offences occurred between April 4 and July 12, 2025, at Pyrmont, Haymarket, Ultimo, Sydney, Millers Point, Surry Hills and Annandale.
He was refused bail to appear before at Downing Centre Local Court today (Thursday 17 July 2025).
