Man charged after three police officers assaulted in Chatswood

Three police officers have been assaulted during the arrest of a man at Chatswood yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5pm on Friday 16 December 2016, a 35-year-old man was leaving Chatswood Railway Station when he refused to present his ticket.

The man allegedly spat at a rail employee who alerted police who were nearby.

When the officers attempted to speak to the 35-year-old man he became aggressive and swore.

As the officers attempted to arrest the man a violent struggle ensued with one officer head butted several times. Two other officers were spat on.

The officers utilised OC spray and were able to subdue the man who was taken to Chatswood Police Station.

There, NSW Ambulance paramedics decontaminated the man who was not otherwise injured.

He was charged with assault police, resist arrest, common assault, use offensive language and not present ticket.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
