Man Charged After Wagga Wagga Break-In, Car Thefts

A man has been charged over several alleged incidents in the state's south earlier this week.

On Wednesday morning (14 May 2025), police were called to a house on Spring Street, Wagga Wagga following reports of a break and enter.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District attended and were told several pieces of jewellery had allegedly been stolen from the home overnight.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 3.30pm the same day, police were called to a carpark on Baretta Lane, Wagga Wagga, following reports of a vehicle being stolen.

Police were told a Volkswagen ute was allegedly stolen from a business.

Inquiries commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, the vehicle was located about 8.30pm at a carpark on Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

Following further inquiries, about 11.45am yesterday (15 May 2025) police attended an address on Connorton Avenue, Ashmont, where they arrested a 22-year-old man.

Police searched the property and located an amount of ammunition that was seized for forensic examination.

The man was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and break and enter house etc steal.

He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 16 May 2025).

Police will allege in court the 22-year-old man was also involved in the theft of an Audi SUV from an address on Bradman Way, Boorooma, the same morning.
