Man charged after weapons seized in Riverstone

A man has been charged after numerous weapons and a firearm were allegedly found during a vehicle stop in Sydney’s North-West.

About 4.20pm yesterday today, police from St Marys Local Area Command stopped a Honda Civic on Riverstone Parade, Riverstone, NSW Police say.

The 26-year-old male driver failed a roadside drug test and was placed under arrest.

Police searched the man and allegedly located an extendable baton, a knife and a taser-like device in the shape of knuckle dusters.

Officers then searched the vehicle, allegedly locating a loaded sawn off .22 rifle.

The man was arrested and was taken to Quakers Hill Police Station where he was charged with possess loaded firearm, possess shortened firearm, possess ammunition, possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess prohibited weapon, and custody of a knife.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today tomorrow.
