Man Charged After Western Sydney Pursuit

A man has been charged after a police pursuit across western Sydney this morning.

About 10.15am (Wednesday 4 February 2026), police were patrolling the Granville area, when they attempted to stop a sedan on Bridge Street.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command commenced a pursuit.

The pursuit continued throughout the Granville, Merrylands, and South Granville areas, where the sedan crashed into a police car, damaging the vehicle.

The pursuit continued into the Bankstown area and ended at Condell Park when the car crashed into a sedan on Edgar Street, near Eldrige Road.

The driver allegedly ran from the vehicle and a foot pursuit commenced.

Officers arrested the driver - a 36-year-old man - a short time later and he was subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result.

Police searched the car and allegedly located a substance believed to be butanediol and an amount of methylamphetamine.

The 36-year-old man was taken to Bankstown Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and not give particulars to other driver.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 5 February 2026).
