Man charged after woman struck in head by scissors, NSW

A man will appear in court today after allegedly throwing a pair of scissors at a woman, which embedded in her head woman, near Wagga Wagga earlier this month, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 1.30pm on Monday 3 December 2018, Ambulance paramedics were called to a home at Ashmont.

They located an 18-year-old woman with a pair of scissors embedded in the top of her skull, that were unable to be removed.

The woman was treated at the scene before she was conveyed to the local hospital and eventually transferred to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police have been told that the woman asked for a pair of scissors from her partner, who allegedly threw them at her.

The woman put her head down and covered her face, but was struck in the top of her head.

About 5pm on Monday 10 December 2018 officers from the Riverina Police District arrested a 21-year-old man at Tumut Police Station.

He was later charged with recklessly wound any other person and refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Tuesday 11 December 2018).

The injured woman appears to be in good health after her treatment, while inquiries into the incident continue.
