A man has been charged over alleged dangerous driving and threatening others with a knife in Sydney's south west earlier this week.
About 7pm on Wednesday 7 May 2025, police responded to multiple calls made to Triple Zero (000) regarding a white sedan driving erratically through the streets and crashed into multiple parked cars at a number of locations in Yagoona area.
A short time later, officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended Talbot Road, Yagoona, where they located the sedan and a 46-year-old man.
Police were told the man allegedly threatened two other men with a machete before police arrived.
Initial inquiries allege they were not known to each other.
Following further inquiries, police seized a knife at the scene before the man was taken to Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital for a mandatory testing and for further assessment under police guard.
On Thursday 8 May 2025, the man was taken to Bankstown Police Station after he was released from the hospital.
He was charged with carry knife visible in public place – cause fear for safety, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/ manner dangerous, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and not vie particulars to other driver.
He was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 9 May 2025).
