Man charged as inquiries continue into shooting death in Warilla

A man is due to appear in Port Kembla Local Court next month charged with concealing a serious indictable offence, NSW Police say.

The 39-year-old man was arrested this morning by detectives attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command, who have been investigating the alleged shooting murder of 19-year-old Jye McWatters.

Mr McWatters’ body was found in the front yard of a home in Kippax Street, Warilla, on 26 December last year.

An investigation was initiated under Strike Force Briony.

The man, from Warilla, was arrested shortly before 9am today. He has been charged with concealing a serious indictable offence.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 20 July 2016.
