Man Charged by Tasmania Police for 98 Child Online Offenses

A 31-year-old Hobart man has been charged over a series of alleged online offences committed against children over a five-year period, following a significant investigation by Tasmania Police.

The man was arrested today by officers from Tasmania Police's High Risk Child Exploitation team with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET).

The man will face court over almost 100 charges, including:

79 x Using a carriage service to engage in sexual activity with a person under 16.

6 x Cause transmission of child abuse material

8 x Using a carriage service to procure person under 16 years of age

2 x using carriage service to solicit child abuse material

1 x possessing child abuse material

2 x possessing child exploitation material

He will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court later today.
