Man charged following armed robbery attempt and domestic in Muswellbrook

A man will face court today charged over an alleged robbery attempt and subsequent domestic violence incident at Muswellbrook, NSW Police say.

Police have been told about 2.45pm yesterday, a man was working at a motel on Maitland Street when another man, armed with a knife, threatened him and demanded cash.

The man then left on foot and was allegedly involved in a domestic violence incident in Ruthwhite Avenue.

Officers from Hunter Valley Local Area Command were notified and attended a short time later.

During the course of the arrest, police deployed a TASER to subdue the man.

He was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station, where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon, common assault (DV), two counts of breaching an AVO, and two counts of destroying or damaging property (DV).

The man was refused bail and is due to appear in Singleton Local Court today.
