Man charged following crash in Sydney

A man has been charged in relation to a crash which led to major traffic delays in the Sydney CBD yesterday afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 1.10pm yesterday, a Lexus RCF was turning from George Street into Bathurst Street when it allegedly struck a parked concrete pumping truck at high speed.

The impact caused the 26-tonne truck to slide into the concrete kerb and crack it, and also broke the truck’s rear axle. A worker standing on top of the truck was uninjured.

The 43-year-old driver of the car suffered a broken wrist and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.

Traffic was significantly impacted until the truck, which was not driveable after the crash, could be moved.

Earlier today, the driver of the car was released from hospital and placed under arrest.

He was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, resident three months not obtain a licence, and licence expired.

The Korean national was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 5 July 2017.
