Man charged following fatal crash in Orange

A man will appear in court on charges relating to a fatal crash between a truck and a car in the state’s Central West in March, NSW Police say.

Just before midday on Thursday 23 March 2017, emergency services were called to The Escort Way, Orange, following reports a prime mover and Toyota had collided.

A 72-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.

The driver of the Toyota, a 41-year-old man, was also treated at the scene for minor injuries and shock before being taken to Orange Health Service where he was later released.

The driver of the prime mover, a 24-year-old man, was not injured.

Officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit have been conducting ongoing inquiries into the crash.

today, they issued a court attendance notice to the truck driver for the offences of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

Police will allege the truck had travelled to the incorrect side of the road just prior to the crash occurring.

The man is due to appear at Orange Local Court on Monday 23 October 2017.

His licence has been suspended.
