Man charged following fatal pedestrian crash in North Parramatta earlier this year

A man has been charged following investigations into the death of a man, who was struck by a car while changing a tyre in North Parramatta earlier this year, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 11am on Friday 3 June 2016, emergency services were called to James Ruse Drive, near the intersection of Pennant Hills Road, North Parramatta, following reports a man had been struck by a car.

Officers from Parramatta Local Area Command were told the 19-year-old Wentworthville man had been attempting to change a tyre on his vehicle, when he was struck by a passing utility.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

No one else was injured during the incident.

The driver of the Great Wall utility, a 41-year-old Turramurra man, was taken to Westmead Hospital where he underwent mandatory blood and urine tests.

Yesterday (3 November 2016), following extensive investigations, officers from the Crash Investigation Unit charged the 41-year-old man with negligent driving occasioning death.

He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 25 January 2016.
