Man charged following glassing in Coonabarabran

A man has been charged following an alleged assault with a bottle in the state’s Central West yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 6.50pm yesterday, a man was driving a vehicle with two passengers – a 26-year-old man and a woman aged in her 20s – on White Street, Coonabarabran, when a Holden Captiva with two occupants – 31-year-old man and a woman – pulled out in front of them.

Police have been told both vehicles stopped, the occupants exited, and an altercation took place.

During the altercation, it’s alleged the 31-year-old man broke a glass bottle and assaulted the 26-year-old man.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was also allegedly pushed by the 31-year-old man.

The injured man was taken to Coonabarabran Hospital for treatment of a laceration to his arm and back.

Officers from Mudgee Local Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home on Ulamambri Street, Ulamambri.

The man was taken to Coonabarabran Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Coonabarabran Local Court on Friday 23 September 2016.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police is urged to come forward.
