Emergency services were called to a kindergarten in Orient Place about 5.30am on Monday.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze but not before it caused extensive damage to the premises.

He has been charged with arson, criminal damage by fire, theft of motor car and breaching bail conditions.

He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
