Man charged following investigation into multi vessel theft and arson in 2013 in Cabarita

A man has been arrested following a lengthy investigation into the alleged theft and arson of luxury cruisers at a marina in Cabarita in 2013, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Maretimo is an ongoing joint investigation between Marine Area Command and State Crime Command’s Property Crime Squad, to investigate the deliberately lit fire at the marina about 2.40am on Tuesday 3 December 2013.

Three vessels at the marina, and a fourth allegedly stolen from a nearby mooring, were completely destroyed by fire with the damage exceeding $4 million.

Yesterday, yesterday, police attended a house in Bossley Park, and executed an arrest warrant on a 52-year-old man.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with the arrest warrant for four counts of damage property by fire, dishonestly for gain damage property by fire, two counts of take and drive conveyance and steal vessel.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Fairfield Local Court today.

This is the second person arrested in relation to this investigation.
