Just before 6.30pm on Friday 13 July 2018, a man approached a 70-year-old woman and allegedly attempted to steal her handbag as she walked along a pathway on Showground Road, near Gosford Railway Station.

The woman fell to the ground; however, wasn’t injured, and the man fled the scene empty-handed.

Police were alerted and officers from Brisbane Water Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

About 9.50am today (Thursday 26 July 2018), investigators attended a home on Kooronya Road, Kincumber, where they spoke with a 21-year-old man.

He was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with assault with intent to rob, and obtain benefit by deception (unrelated to this matter).

He was refused bail and faced Gosford Local Court today where he was given conditional bail.

He is due to re-appear in Gosford Local Court on Tuesday 7 August 2018.
