Man charged following Maple Avenue incident, TAS

A 47 year old Moonah man has been charged in relation to an incident at Maple Ave, Moonah, Tasmania Police say.

Police allege the man barricaded himself in his residence armed with a firearm over a 14 hour period from Sunday 27 November until he was taken into custody at 7.30am on Monday 28 November.

Police also allege the man fired his weapon at police several times during the incident.

The man has been charged with:

Aggravated Assault x 3

Possess Firearm when not the holder of licence

Possess ammunition when not the holder of licence

Deface identification markings of firearm

Recklessly discharge a firearm

Create common nuisance

The man remains in custody and is due to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon.
