Man charged following police pursuit near Wollongong, NSW

A man has been charged following a police pursuit near Wollongong yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just after 4pm yesterday (Friday 2 November 2018) officers from Lake Illawarra Police District commenced a pursuit with a Holden Commodore, after it allegedly failed to stop for a random breath test while travelling north on the Princes Highway at Albion Park Rail.

The Holden continued north onto the M1 near Berkeley until it struck a tyre deflation device.

The vehicle continued with deflated tyres until coming to a stop on the Princes Highway at Gwynneville.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police will allege during a search of the vehicle they located knives, and a quantity of a substance believed to be methylamphetamine.

The man was charged with supply a prohibited drug, possess knife, and numerous driving offences.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Saturday 3 November 2018).
