Man charged following pursuit in Dubbo

A man has been charged following an alleged pursuit in the state’s Central West yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before 2pm yesterday, officers from Orana Local Area Command attempted to stop a Holden Commodore sedan in Wheelers Lane, Dubbo.

The driver of the Holden allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

Officers followed the Holden onto the Newell Highway, but when the vehicle crossed Yarrandale Road onto a dirt track, the pursuit was terminated.

About 4.40pm, the Holden was located about 15km east of Dubbo, and when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly crashed into the police vehicle, before driving off.

The Holden continued along the Golden Highway, before the driver allegedly lost control of the car and drove through several fences onto a nearby farm.

As police approached the farm house, they saw the driver attempting to run through a paddock and gave chase on foot.

The 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop (‘Skye’s Law’), drive manner dangerous, drive while disqualified and goods in custody.

He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today.
