Man charged following two armed robberies in Granville

A man has been charged following investigations into two alleged armed robberies at Granville earlier this month, NSW Police say.

Police will allege about 1.30pm on Saturday 3 September 2016, a man approached a 17-year-old teen and demanded money while showing what appeared to be a firearm in the belt of his pants.

The teen stated he did not have any money and the man left the scene.

That afternoon, a 48-year-old man was approached by a man while entering his parked car on The Trongate, Granville. The man allegedly produced what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money.

A short struggle took place and the 48-year-old man was allegedly struck in the head and neck by the butt of the firearm, before the 48-year-old man was able to drive away from the scene.

Both incidents were reported to Rosehill Police who commenced inquiries.

Following investigations, about 8am today, an 18-year-old man was arrested at a home in Enid Street, Greystanes.

He was taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.
