A man has been charged following two pursuits through Oaks Flats this week, NSW Police say.

About 11.40am on Wednesday (14 September 2016), police attempted to pull over a white Holden Commodore, on The Boulevarde, when it is alleged the driver failed to stop.

A pursuit ensued but was terminated a short time later.

About 8.10am on Thursday yesterday, police saw the same white Holden Commodore, on The Boulevarde, Oak Flats, when it is alleged to have accelerated away.

Shortly after, officers from Traffic & Highway Patrol saw the vehicle on Devonshire Crescent and attempted to pull it over, when it is alleged the driver failed to stop again.

A second pursuit ensued but was terminated a short time later.

Soon after, officers located the vehicle in the car park of Deakin Reserve.

The vehicle reversed towards the police vehicle, requiring evasive action. The vehicle stalled and officers attempted to arrest the driver. The vehicle restarted and drove off, allegedly colliding with the police vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle in Bridge Avenue and made inquiries at a nearby home.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

The man was charged with police pursuit – nonstop – drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, learner not accompanied, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and predatory driving.

He was granted bail and is due to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 12 October 2016.
