Man Charged for Loitering in Taree Women's Toilets

A man has been charged with loitering inside the female toilets of a shopping centre and breaching an apprehended violence order on the states mid north coast.

Last Wednesday (15 April 2026), officers from Manning/Great Lakes Police District were informed that a man was seen to enter the female toilets of a shopping centre on Manning Street, Taree, about 2pm that same day.

It will be alleged that the man remained in the toilets for about 10 minutes.

Several women reported the incident to security who confronted the man a short time later before he allegedly left the centre.

Following extensive inquiries officers arrested a 38-year-old man yesterday (Friday 17 April 2026) about 4.40pm at a home in Taree before he was taken to Taree Police Station.

He was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), observe person in private act without consent and behave in offensive manner in/near public place/school.

The man was refused bail to appear at bail division court today (Saturday 18 April 2026), where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Taree Local Court on Tuesday (21 April 2026).
