Drug & Firearms Squad detectives have charged a man for allegedly procuring and selling unauthorised law enforcement uniform and insignia.
Strike Force Ambania was established by State Crime Commands Drug & Firearms Squad in June 2025 to investigate the criminal activity of a 50-year-old man employed by a company involved in the procurement and disposal of NSWPF uniform and insignia.
On Thursday 12 June 2025, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Thirroul, where they seized a mobile phone.
Analysis of the mobile phone found evidence of the man allegedly attempting to sell 71 NSWPF pieces of uniform and insignia, of which 28 were sold.
Detectives also uncovered evidence the man was allegedly in possession of firearms.
About 8am today (Tuesday 29 July 2025), a 50-year-old man was arrested at Sutherland Police Station, where he was charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess unauthorised pistol, attempt dispose property-theft=serious indictable <=$5000, and dispose property-theft=serious indictable offence <=$5000.
He was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
While the man had access to NSWPF uniform and insignia through his employment, investigations continue to determine the source of the items.
