Man Charged in Attempted Armed Robbery at Broken Hill

A man has faced court today charged following an attempted armed robbery in the state's far west.

About 10.20am yesterday (Monday 4 December 2023), a man entered a shop on Oxide Street, Broken Hill, and allegedly demanded cash.

The shop attendant retreated to the back of the store and the man fled the location in a car.

A short time later the man was located in a park on Chloride Street, allegedly armed with a knife and an axe.

The man was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station.

The 30-year-old man was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and have custody of an offensive implement in a public place.

He appeared at Wentworth Local Court today (Tuesday 5 December 2023), where he was given conditional bail to reappear at Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday 30 January 2023.
