Man charged in connection with Lurnea shooting, NSW

Police investigating the shooting of a child in a home at Lurnea last week, have charged a man, NSW Police say.

It was about 9pm (1 May 2017), when a five-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound while inside a home on Morison Drive, Lurnea.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital by his parents, where he was treated for a wound to his hip.

Following investigations, a 41-year-old man was arrested by detectives from Liverpool Local Area Command earlier today.

The man, from Lurnea, has been charged with

• Hinder investigation – serious indictable offence

• Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm

• Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

The man has been granted bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 25 May 2017.
