Man Charged in Fatal Wagga Wagga Shooting

A man has been charged after the fatal shooting of a man in the state's Riverina region earlier this week.

Just before 3am on Monday 9 June 2025, emergency services were called to Connorton Avenue, Ashmont, following reports a man had been shot during an altercation.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and located the injured 37-year-old man; however, he died at the scene.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Cerventes with assistance from State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 35-year-old man at a home on Lady Loch Crescent, in Narrandera, just after 9.30am today (Thursday 12 June 2025).

During a search warrant at the home, police located and seized several clothing items for forensic examination.

The man was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with murder and special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow.
