Man charged over 2015 Skye explosion

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an explosion in Skye in 2015, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called to a reserve bordered by Sanoma Drive, Danube Close and Santa Clara Mews, after witnesses heard a large bang just before 6am on Saturday 29 August.

On Thursday, detectives interviewed a 36-year-old Frankston North man for allegedly lighting a commercial grade aerial firework that un-expectantly exploded on launch.

He has been charged with one count of possess explosive and will face the Frankston Magistrates’ court Monday 31 July.
