Man charged over armed robbery– Gold Coast

Gold Coast detectives have charged a man in relation to an alleged armed robbery at a unit at Broadbeach Waters on December 23, 2016, Queensland Police say.

During the incident at the Rio Vista Boulevard address a man allegedly produced a firearm and demanded cash from the 19-year-old male resident before fleeing with a sum of money.

In another incident between December 16 and December 21, 2016 a man allegedly attended the same Rio Vista Boulevard address and made demands for money while threatening the same resident.

A 27-year-old man from Nerang has been charged with armed robbery and attempted robbery and faced Southport Magistrates Court today.

He was remanded in custody to reappear on January 19, 2017.

Detectives from the Southern Investigative Group will continue to investigate whether there is any link between these incidents and a hit and run death at a unit on Rio Vista Boulevard on December 26, 2016.
