Man Charged Over Attempted Cigarette Heist in Doncaster

Detectives from Manningham Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man following an alleged attempted robbery in Doncaster yesterday morning.

A man entered a store at a shopping centre on Doncaster Road about 8.20am on Wednesday, 22 May.

He allegedly demanded cigarettes and threatened the staff member, stating he had a weapon.

There were no physical injuries and the man fled on foot.

Police located and arrested him nearby.

The 33-year-old, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted robbery, attempted burglary and handle stolen goods.

He will appear at Heidelberg Magistrates' Court on 3 December 2024.
