Man charged over child approach, NSW

A man has been charged after an alleged child approach on the north coast, NSW Police say.

About 8.30am on Monday (5 December 2016), a 12-year-old boy was waiting for a bus on Molong Road, Old Bar, when a man in a vehicle asked him to get into the car.

The boy refused, but the man again allegedly insisted before he was challenged by a man nearby and left the scene.

Police from Manning/Great Lakes Local Area Command began an investigation.

About 11am today, police arrested a 75-year-old man at Old Bar.

He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with intimidate child with intent to cause harm.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Taree Local Court on 16 January 2017.
