Man Charged Over Concord Car Firebombing: Strike Force Millynn

A fourth man has been charged over the firebombing of two cars in Sydney's Inner West earlier this year.

About 3.30am on Thursday 13 April 2023, emergency services responded to reports of two vehicles on fire in Flavelle Street, Concord.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire; however, both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Detectives attached to Burwood Police Area Command established Strike Force Millynn to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident where three people have already been charged in relation to the matter and are currently before the courts.

Shortly before 9am today (Wednesday 23 August 2023), a 38-year-old man was arrested when he attended Burwood Police Station.

He was charged with six offences including:

  • demand property with menaces with intent to steal,
  • demand property by force in company with intent to steal,
  • participate criminal group contribute criminal activity
  • knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime
  • destroy etc property in company use fire etc > $5000 x 2

The man was refused bail and appeared before Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 23 August 2023), where he was formally refused bail to re-appear before the same court on Wednesday 13 September 2023.

Inquiries by officers attached to Strike Force Millynn continue.
