Man charged over crossbow incident, SA

A man has been charged over a crossbow incident that injured a woman at Parafield Gardens, according to SA Police.

Just before 5pm on Monday 24 July, police and paramedics were called to a house on Bardsley Avenue, Parafield Gardens where a woman had been shot in the leg with a crossbow.

The suspect left prior to police arriving and, fearing the man had been seriously injured, police appealed for public assistance to help find him. The man presented at the Lyell McEwin Hospital this afternoon for treatment for an injury sustained in the altercation.

The 27-year-old Parafield Gardens man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault cause harm and two counts of possess prohibited weapons, after police allegedly located nunchucks and a crossbow at his home.

He has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 8 September.

Investigations into the incident at Parafield Gardens are ongoing and police would like to reassure the community that the people involved are known to each other.
