Man charged over Dharruk murder, NSW

Police investigating the death of Erol Tokcan in Sydney’s west earlier this year have charged a man with murder, NSW Police say.

Police and emergency services were called to a home on Livingston Avenue, Dharruk, about 9.45pm on Friday 9 March 2018, after reports of a home invasion.

A group of men entered the home and threatened 38-year-old Erol Tokcan, before stabbing him and fleeing the scene.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital, where he later died.

Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 3.55pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 November 2018), police arrested a 23-year-old man at a home on Neriba Crescent, Whalan.

A search warrant was executed at a home on Elke Way, Toongabbie, with several items being seized.

The arrested man was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Thursday 29 November 2018).
