Man charged over excessive speed and high range drink driving in Finley

A man has been charged with high range drink driving after allegedly being detected travelling almost 190km/h in the state’s south.

Just after 7pm today, police detected a Ford Falcon utility travelling at 187km/h in a northbound direction on the Newell Highway at Finley, east of Deniliquin.

Police pulled the vehicle over and subjected the 45-year-old male driver to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Finley Police Station where he was subject to a breath analysis, allegedly returning a reading of 0.161.

The man was charged with drive manner dangerous, high range prescribed concentration of alcohol, and exceed speed by over 45km/h. His licence was also suspended, NSW Police say.

He is expected to appear at Finley Local Court on 23 September 2016.
