Man charged over fatal crash in Coolah

A man has been charged after a fatal crash near Coolah last week.

About 5.40pm (9 June 2016), emergency services were called to Blackbutts Way, Coolah, 85km south of Coonabarabran, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a 52-year-old Castle Cove man was attempting to change the tyre of his red Holden station wagon when he was struck by a maroon Ford Falcon sedan.

He later died at hospital.

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced.

The driver of the Ford allegedly failed to stop after the crash and drove to a home before contacting police.

Officers from the Northern Tablelands Crash Investigation Unit attended the home and arrested the 51-year-old man.

He was taken to Coolah Hospital for mandatory blood and urine analysis, NSW Police say.

today, the 51-year-old man attended Singleton Police Station where he was charged with fail to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing death and alter concentration of blood before sample.

He was granted bail to appear at Mudgee Local Court on 7 September 2016.
