Man charged over firearm offences in Merrylands

A man will face court today charged with firearm offences, after police seized a rifle, cash, and other items from a home in Sydney’s west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 7.20pm yesterday, officers attached to Holroyd Local Area Command with assistance of the Public Order and Riot Squad, executed a search warrant at a home on Davies Street, Merrylands.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized an air rifle, ammunition, cash, prescribed restricted substances and OC spray.

A 50-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit and not keep firearm safely.

He was bail refused to face Parramatta Local Court today.
