Man charged over hotel room break and enter in Mascot

A man has been charged after allegedly breaking into a hotel room and stealing items in Mascot this morning, NSW Police say.

About 2am today, a couple sleeping in a hotel room on O’Riordan Street were awoken to a door adjoining to another room being opened.

On further inspection the man and woman, both aged 43, found a man in their hotel room.

The unknown man apologised and went back into his hotel room next door.

The pair noticed a number of items missing including a $1000 purse, and notified officers from Botany Bay Local Area Command.

A 41-year-old man was arrested at the same hotel and taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

The man was refused bail, to appear at Waverley Local Court tomorrow.
