Man charged over Mascot shooting, NSW

A man has been charged over an alleged shooting at Mascot last month, NSW Police say.

About 6pm on Wednesday 31 January 2018, police responded to a report of a shooting at Jackson Drive, near Kent Street.

It’s alleged a number of shots had been fired from a white Ford Ranger Utility towards a Mazda sedan, with CCTV later seized by police.

Both cars sped away from the scene, travelling erratically along Jackson Drive in a westerly direction.

Police located a number of projectile casings at the scene and the Mazda sedan was later seized for forensic examination.

Strike Force Ankali was established by Botany Bay Police Area Command.

Following investigations, a 35-year-old man was arrested at a home in Maroubra about 11.30am today (Wednesday 28 February 2018).

He was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with shoot at with intent to murder, discharge firearm intend to cause grievous bodily harm, and fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property.

The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 1 March 2018).
