Man charged over production of drugs Burleigh Heads

Police from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrols (RAP) have charged a man following the discovery of an alleged hydroponics cannabis set up at Burleigh Heads yesterday afternoon.

Around 3.40pm police executed a search warrant at an Ern Harley Drive industrial premises where it is alleged 29 cannabis plants and a sophisticated hydroponics set-up were located.

A 53-year-old man from Burleigh Waters has been charged with one count each of produce dangerous drugs, possession of a dangerous drug, supply of a dangerous drug, possess things used in commission of offence and possess utensil.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on January 2, 2017.

Officer in Charge of Gold Coast RAP Senior Sergeant Mat Kelly said the seizure was a result of information provided to police.

"The seizure is a great example of the community working with police to remove a significant amount of cannabis ready for sale from the streets of the Gold Coast.

"We encourage members of the community to contact Crime Stoppers to assist police in the targeting of those who involve themselves in drug production and the supply of dangerous drugs," Senior Sergeant Kelly said.
