Man charged over unregistered firearms in Lismore

A man will appear in court next month after he was charged in relation to the unlawful possession of firearms near Lismore, NSW Police say.

About 4.30pm on (7 May 2016) police from Richmond Local Area Command attended a home in Durheim Road at Monaltrie.

The officers were unable to locate a resident and so checked the rear door clearly observing several firearms.

Subsequently police inspected the premises, with the owner’s permission, and located 7 firearms and a small amount of ammunition.

The firearms were seized by police.

Lismore detectives charged the owner, a 71-year-old man with unlawful possession of unregistered firearms, not ensuring the safe keeping of firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The man will appear at Lismore Local Court on Monday 27 June 2016.
