A man has been charged with more than 25 property and motor vehicle theft, weapon and drug offences, following a joint investigation between officers in the state's southern and western regions.
In November 2025, Murray River Police District Rural Crime Invesigators with assistance from the officers at the Barrier Police District commenced an investigation into rural thefts in the far west of the Murray River Police District
About 9.15am on Thursday 9 April 2026, officers attached to Murray River Police District and Barrier Police District executed a search warrant at a property on Swan Hill Road, Murray Downs.
Police seized a ute, a rebirthed car, car parts, can-am buggy, motorbikes, chainsaws, portable timber sawmills – which police will allege were stolen.
Police also seized drugs and prohibited weapons. No one was home at the time.
About 6.15pm yesterday (Monday 13 April 2026), a 30-year-old man was arrested at Deniliquin Police Station.
He was charged with 26 offences including;
- Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not m/v) (6 counts)
- Goods suspected stolen in/on premises (motor vehicle)
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority (2 counts)
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit
- Receive etc property stolen outside NSW greater than $1500 (2 counts)
- Possess prohibited drug (2 counts)
- Unlawfully possess number plates (3 counts)
- Dishonestly possess interfered with unique identifier (4 counts)
- Carry on business of motor vehicle repairer when unlicensed
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Deniliquin Local Court on Wednesday 13 May 2026.
