Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a man with an alleged child abuse material offences under Strike Force Trawler.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by Sex Crimes Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
Following a referral from Queensland Police, strike force detectives conducted extensive inquiries and about 6am yesterday (Thursday 17 July 2025), a search warrant was executed in Oatlands.
During the search, police located and seized electronic devices.
A 44-year-old man was later arrested at the scene and was taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with use carriage service make available child abuse and possess etc child abuse data-use carriage service.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 18 July 2025).
Police will allege in court the man possessed a significant amount of child abuse material and accessed child abuse material on an international online platform.
