A man has been charged with drink driving and other traffic offences after hitting a police car in Surry Hills overnight, NSW Police say.
About 9.30pm today, officers from Surry Hills Local Area Command attempted to stop a vehicle on Riley Lane, Surry Hills, when it is alleged the car crashed into bollards blocking the street.
The vehicle then reversed into the police car parked behind it, causing damage. The two officers in the police vehicle were uninjured.
Police then attempted to arrest the driver when it is alleged he has again hit the police car before driving into Goodlet Lane and crashing into a wall.
Officers spoke to the driver and subjected the man to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. The man was searched and it is alleged police located cannabis.
The 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he allegedly returned a reading of 0.071.
The man has been charged with drive recklessly/manner dangerously, low range PCA and disqualified driver and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court tomorrow.
