Man charged with drug possession in Wollongong

A man has been charged with drug possession after police allegedly located cannabis, methylamphetamine and a sling-shot inside a hotel room today, NSW Police say.

About 4.35pm (Monday 18 June 2018), officers from Wollongong Police District spoke to a man, aged 23, as he was leaving a hotel in Towradgi.

Officers will allege the man was carrying a bag containing two packed plastic bags of cannabis.

He was placed under arrest and a further search of his hotel room was conducted with officers allegedly finding more cannabis, a small amount of methylamphetamine, an amount of cash and a sling-shot.

The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with nine offences including drug possession and supply (x4), conduct a drug premises, deal with proceeds of crime and use/possess a prohibited weapon.

He was given conditional bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 17 July 2018.
