Man charged with firearm and drink driving offences in Chippendale

A Queensland man has been charged with alleged firearms and PCA offences after he was stopped in Chippendale last night, NSW Police say.

About 9.15pm today, officers from Redfern Local Area Command stopped a silver Honda on Dale Street.

Police spoke to the driver, a 39-year-old man, before he was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

It will be alleged a search of the vehicle resulted in a .22 calibre pistol and ammunition located. All items were seized for forensic examination.

The man was arrested and taken to Redfern Police Station, where he underwent a breath test analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.091.

He was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, possess unregistered firearm, possess loaded firearm public place, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without a holding licence, and drive with mid-range PCA.

The Queensland man was refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court tomorrow.
